Error on uploading to ImageShack: A valid API Key is required

Mar 7, 2014 at 11:40 AM
It appears that ImageShack is now requiring registration by app developers so that they'll have a key of their own just as registered users do. I normally upload one or two images a day to ImageShack with Rehost Image and have for many months, but hadn't for perhaps a week. When I tried this morning, I received the error dialog shown below. I verified that my personal user key for my premium ImageShack account is still defined in Rehost Image settings and no changes have been made to that.

Response is not proper XML:

<links>
<error id="auth_error">A valid API key is required. https://imageshack.com/contact/api</error>
</links>

The link quoted in the message brings you to an "API Key Request Form" for app developers.

I'm having the same exact problem with ImageShack through this amazing add-on that I love using.

I hope this gets fixed soon. fingers crossed

Thanks for the reports. This should be fixed in 1.5.12, which is going through review: https://rehostimage.codeplex.com/releases/view/119467

Many thanks for your quick response. I tested the new release candidate successfully and left a review.

I entered the details of my ImageShack account and then tried to upload an image to it shows up the error "Uploading into a free account is not allowed", however, for anonymous uploads it works fine.

If it would be possible I'd like to upload the images to my account rather than anonymously.

Many thanks, RandomEnergy. =)

ImageShack changed their policy; you now need a paid account to upload images through the API. Out of my hands, sadly!

Thanks for your response, RandomEngy.

Although ImageShack Uploader 2.2.0 works fine for free accounts so I thought this would've too.

monlal: Thanks for the report. Yeah I can add the "http://" prefix, will be in the next release.

mark90: Maybe they're using the V1 API. If that's the case I wouldn't expect it to be supported for too much longer; they probably want to move toward requiring a paid account to upload. I'm going to keep using the V2 API.

Okay released 1.5.13, which should fix up the registered ImageShack URLs.

It does, and a tip of the hat to you.

I installed the new update in light of it working again but it didn't. I'll still use it for to upload images on non-account's imageshack.
